MIAMI, FL – Mitchell Bierman, member of Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman and managing director of the Miami-Dade office, was one of three keynote speakers at a CoMotion Miami event featuring more than 60 leaders and trendsetters in the world of transportation and logistics. This Miami conference served as a precursor to a larger event scheduled for April of 2020 to generate feedback on the myriad of issues to improve the region’s complex transportation network. Bierman, past chair of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, continues to serve as a community advocate for better mobility and economic development. Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman is a founding partner of CoMotion Miami.
“It was a pleasure to speak to the brain trust assembled in Wynwood, thought leaders who have dedicated their professional lives to making mobility and smart city innovation a priority,” said Bierman. “With the commitment of the many businesses and individuals here and across the world, we know we will be able to make enormous – and deeply needed – strides in new mobility and transit technology.”
CoMotion organizes exclusive world-class events, partnering with leading companies and cities at the forefront on the Mobility Revolution. The organization advises, consults and partners with both established as well as early stage, “breakthrough” mobility businesses, civic leaders, and municipalities across the globe. Well-recognized corporations such as Lyft, Uber, Ford, Audi, Amazon, Microsoft, Cisco and Siemens, as well as technology and transit companies including Cubic, Via, Transdev and Deutschebahn were all represented at the Miami conference. Furthermore, newer automatic vehicle makers and electric vehicle companies – Envoy, Local Motors and ObePower—also participated.
In addition to Bierman, Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez and Commissioner Esteban Bovo addressed the group. CoMotion Miami focuses on bringing cutting-edge mobility and smart city innovation to South Florida through public private partnering opportunities. The upcoming major conference will be held next year in the Wynwood Business Improvement District on April 2 and 3. Organizers anticipate that more than 500 stakeholders across industry, government, academics, and media will convene, along with a wide range of international companies and corporations.
Miami-Dade County is host to the second major new mobility event following the inaugural CoMotion LA.
Bierman is dedicated to the future of transportation in Miami and has taken an active role in numerous initiatives and summits. He recently moderated the HNTB THINK: Infrastructure Forum, part of a national discussion series that brings together industry leaders and top infrastructure experts on topics of critical importance.
In his practice, Bierman handles government affairs and administrative law matters for major international companies in the transportation, environmental and solid waste, engineering and construction industries. His work includes winning and negotiating large public contracts, public private partnerships, public infrastructure improvements and affordable housing developments as well as advocating for industry clients on public policy issues affecting their industries.
Bierman also chairs the firm’s Airports and Aviation Services Group which is a special practice in airport law representing airports and airport-related business including airlines, cargo carriers, car rental companies, airport concessionaires, consultants and construction and engineering firms.
